Tasting Notes
Our 2020 vintage of estate Rosé elegantly bursts with aromas of peach, yellow rose, grapefruit rind, and lilac. On the tongue, light Rainier cherries, apricot, and golden watermelon linger long on the nuanced finish. Enjoy within the next two years.
Vineyard Notes
The Olivet Lane Vineyard, named for the mature olive trees lining the entrance, has been faithfully tended by the Pellegrini family for over 40 years. This prime Russian River Valley property is now expertly managed by 4th generation, Alexia Pellegrini. Approximately 20 of the 58 acres are planted singularly to the Martini selection of Pinot Noir, a clone now considered as an “heirloom” clone.. The Olivet Lane Vineyard is situated in the heart of the Russian River Valley’s low-lying Laguna de Santa Rosa Plain region, distinguished by the maritime fog influence sweeping up from the Pacific through the Petaluma Gap to the South. The cool climate extends the growing season, creating the opportunity for the grapes to ripen slowly and reach their full flavor potential while retaining their natural acidity, producing wines that are elegant and age-worthy.
Production Notes
An intense frost season, followed by spring rains during flowering left the crop at Olivet Lane a little light compared to most vintages. But as with many things, a lighter density of fruit provides ample opportunity for increased density of flavors. Summer was hot, and full of sun, providing spectacular tannin development
Winemaker Notes
Fruit for this Rose was predominantly selected from our old vine Pinot Noir, with a smaller portion coming from the first-ever vintage of our young Pinot Noir vines, in their 4th leaf. Only the free-run juice and light press portions from the two picks were used for this Rose. These two picks act as perfect counterparts to each other, with the former supplying rich deeper melon tones and the latter providing firm acid and brightness.
Food Pairing Notes
Try Charentais melon with prosciutto, or lemon-basted shrimp skewers.
