Tasting Notes
The 2018 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, with its abundance light cherry and rose pedals sustained by notes of tobacco and pine in the nose, walks a fine line between the delicate and the rich and dense. On the tongue, ripe cherry, plum, and toasted almonds fill the cheeks while roasted wild mushrooms flesh out the palate.
Vineyard Notes
Originating from many of our favorite vineyards in the county, the 2018 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir includes portions from the Olivet Lane, Toboni, and Hurst vineyards, in addition two new vineyards were sourced for this blend, Hallberg and Nonella. Hallberg’s storied past requires little introduction, however Nonella provides many layers of excellent characteristics which shape this wine. The vineyard sits on a flat on the west side of Santa Rosa on Hall Rd, only a few miles from our estate. Entirely 777 Clone, this beautifully manicured vineyard is brilliant with red fruits and subtle spice notes. The blend of all of these vineyards leads to endless layers of flavors complemented by brilliant fruit tones.
Winemaker Notes
All fruit for this blend was hand harvest in the early hours of the morning to best preserve the flavors and acids. All lots were cold soaked for 5 days, and total fermentation time ran 13 to 15 days across the board. 3 punchdowns per day provide gentle cap management, preserving texture and subtle aromas. Regular batonnage through January of 2019 promotes the mouth filling silky texture. Blending occurred in July, the first racking for any of the barrels included into the blend.
Food Pairing Notes
Roasted & grilled dishes of all kinds, mushroom risotto, aged hard cheeses.
