Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
A first for our winery, the 2019 Nouveau of Pinot Noir showcases the effortless grace of the Olivet Lane Vineyard. A fun summertime red wine, aromas of tarragon, black plum, blackberry thicket, and kampot pepper are on prominent display. Lighter tones of watermelon, lingonberry, and fig highlight the mouth, harmonized by essences of Herb de Provence.
Vineyard Notes
The Olivet Lane Vineyard, named for the mature olive trees lining the entrance, has been faithfully tended by the Pellegrini family for over 40 years. This prime Russian River Valley property is now expertly managed by 4th generation, Alexia Pellegrini. Approximately 20 of the 58 acres are planted singularly to the Martini selection of Pinot Noir, a clone now considered as an “heirloom” clone.. The Olivet Lane Vineyard is situated in the heart of the Russian River Valley’s low-lying Laguna de Santa Rosa Plain region, distinguished by the maritime fog influence sweeping up from the Pacific through the Petaluma Gap to the South. The cool climate extends the growing season, creating the opportunity for the grapes to ripen slowly and reach their full flavor potential while retaining their natural acidity, producing wines that are elegant and age-worthy.
Winemaker Notes
Grapes for this wine we specifically chosen from specific areas of our Olivet Lane Estate with perfect balance of grape and stem maturation. They were hand sorted directly into 1 Ton fermentation bins, layering in dry ice during the sorting process. Post sort, the only treatment the bins received was a bag of dry ice hung above it three times a day to promote an absolutely anaerobic environment. After 19 days of carbonic maceration, the grapes were pressed to portable tank, where the remainder of fermentation finished natively. The only adds ever made to this wine were dry ice and Sulphur.
Food Pairing Notes
Works especially well with bright appetizers and cheeses of all kinds.
